What kinds of summer jobs do you have available?

We are looking for summer workers for a variety of positions throughout our service area (Kuortti, Mäntyharju, Hirvensalmi, Ristiina, Mikkeli, Anttola, Hurissalo, Puumala, Sulkava, Juva, Virtasalmi, Jäppilä, Pieksämäki, Haukivuori, Rantasalmi, Enonkoski, Kerimäki, and Savonlinna).

Who is eligible to apply?

Those over 18 years oldOsuuskauppa Suur-Savo is hiring summer workers that are 18 years and older for various sectors and locations. Summer jobs are available at grocery stores, ABC stations, the hospitality and catering business, Suur-Savo Bakery, and Suur-Savo Cleaning Services. Summer work periods vary in length depending on the needs of the locations, but most employment contracts last several months. The majority of summer work periods are scheduled for June through August. However, some positions start earlier, as summer workers may be needed from the Easter season through the end of September. Those under 18 years oldSummer jobs are also available for those under the age of 18. Summer job periods for young people generally run from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. The duration of summer employment contracts varies from a couple of weeks to fixed-term contracts lasting several weeks. The job duties for those under 18 depend on the summer job location. Summer jobs involve a variety of customer service tasks, for example, in stores, transportation retail outlets, cafes, or restaurants. Job duties may include various customer service tasks, maintaining cleanliness, unloading and stocking shelves in stores, and clearing and setting tables in restaurants.

How do I apply for a summer job?

If you are 18 years of age or older, you can submit your summer job application through our website. We recruit summer employees for all our locations through the same online application process. We will only consider applications submitted through this application online. On the application form, you can select one or more locations, but please note that you should only select locations where you are able to work and can easily commute to. Also indicate on the form the dates when you are available for summer work. Applications for next summer’s summer jobs open on -. We recommend submitting your application as soon as the summer recruitment opens, as we begin interviews and make selections during the application period. The summer recruitment application period for those under 18 is open from -, to -. You can apply for summer jobs for those under 18 during the application period via the application link provided in the job posting. We process applications exclusively through our recruitment system, so applying via email is not possible. We will notify applicants of the application process via email, so please ensure you enter a valid email address on your application.

Can I use AI to fill out my application?

Of course, you can use AI, but at our end, every application is reviewed by a human. That’s why we recommend using AI as a tool, not letting it determine the content of your application. If everyone submits a generic application generated by AI, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. However, AI can certainly provide inspiration.

Can I submit my application and resume by email?

We receive several hundred applications for summer jobs, and we want to treat all applicants fairly. For this reason, we will only consider job applications and resumes submitted through our online recruitment system.

How do I know if my application has been received?

After submitting your application, you will be directed to a page informing you that your application is awaiting review by the recruiter. We will also send you an email once we have received your application. So please check your email.

How does the process work?

We are recruiting for summer jobs throughout the application period. Once we receive your application, you will receive an email confirming receipt. We will begin interviews and make selections during the application period. We will invite you to an interview via email. So be sure to check your email, including your spam folder! If you’ve been selected, you’ll receive a separate notification. After that, you’ll discuss the details of starting work with your supervisor and you’ll be ready to join! If you didn’t land a summer job this time, we’ll notify you of the decision via email. What kind of pay is expected?

The pay for sales associates and retail store employees is in accordance with the collective agreement for the retail sector. The pay for restaurants and cafés is in accordance with the hotel, restaurant and leisure industry collective agreement. Bakeries’ wages are in accordance with the bakery sector’s collective agreement. For shift work, evening and weekend bonuses provide a nice supplement to the base salary. See sample pay tables here.   • Restaurants, cafes, and cleaning services: €425
  • Bakery: €395

What should I know and do at work?

It’s okay if you feel a little nervous—we’ll go over everything carefully with you, and every employee receives thorough training for their duties. At Osuuskauppa Suur-Savo, we encourage and support our employees. If something is on your mind, you can always ask your supervisor or coworkers about it. Attitude is what matters most here. When you come to work with us this summer, all you need is a cheerful spirit, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn new things—we’ll provide everything else.

How do I prepare for an interview?

If you receive an invitation to an interview, it’s a good idea to prepare a little. It's a good idea to think in advance what you want to say about yourself and your strengths. Practical examples usually work well, and it’s okay if you don’t have much experience yet. It’s also important that you can explain why you want to work for us. It’s okay to feel nervous during the interview, and it’s okay to say so out loud. Your interviewer has usually interviewed many summer workers, so they’re used to a little nervousness. The most important thing is that you’re yourself and show enthusiasm for the summer job!

When will I be notified if I got the summer job?

The recruitment of summer employees will proceed at slightly different paces across our various business units during the spring of 2026. We will do our best to keep applicants informed about the progress of the recruitment process. We receive several hundred applications for our summer jobs, so the process takes time. We will notify everyone who applied for a summer job via email by the end of March at the latest. So please check your email regularly to make sure you don’t miss any messages. What should I do if I'm a applicant under the age of 18?

There are separate application periods for applicants under the age of 18, as employment relationships involve specific considerations regarding working hours and job duties. The application period for applicants under the age of 18 is 2.3.-22.3.2026.

I got a summer job somewhere else and want to withdraw my application. What should I do?

You can withdraw your application through our recruitment system. However, if you have already agreed on a summer job with your supervisor, be sure to notify them directly as well.
